The broad-leaved vine of Melnik, ripening in Mediterranean heat.
Grown on terraces beneath the sandstone pyramids of Melnik, this late-ripening variety produces wines of dried fruit, tobacco and warm stone — recognisably southern, unmistakably Bulgarian.
