Red · Thracian Valley
Mavrud
Bulgaria's most storied red: dark, herbal, tannic, slow to open.
Mavrud ripens late and grows almost nowhere outside the Thracian Valley. Its name comes from the Greek for black. Small berries, thick skins and firm tannin give wines that ask for a few years and reward them.
